This Privacy Policy explains how Square Coast LLC ("Earmark," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use Earmark (the "Service").

Your mobile number and SMS consent are never sold or shared. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. We share phone numbers only with the service providers that deliver our text messages and run the Service, as described below.

Information we collect

Phone number and consent record: the mobile number you sign up with, and when and how you agreed to receive texts.
What you send us: the links and text you message to Earmark, and the article content we retrieve from those links.
Episodes: the audio files and episode details (like titles and length) we create for you, and your private feed link.
Usage and technical data: message timestamps, delivery status, how often your feed is checked, and basic logs (such as IP address and podcast app type) from requests to our website and feed.

How we use it

To create your episodes and deliver them to your private feed.
To send you the text messages described in our Terms of Service, and to honor STOP and HELP requests.
To enforce usage limits, prevent abuse, and keep the Service secure.
To fix problems and improve the Service.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Service providers

We use trusted providers to run the Service, and they may process your information only on our behalf:

Text messaging (for example, Twilio) to send and receive SMS.
AI processing (for example, Anthropic and OpenAI) to clean up article text, write episode introductions, and generate speech.
Hosting and storage (for example, Cloudflare and Railway) to run our servers and store audio files.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of Earmark or others, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, in which case this policy will continue to apply.

Your private feed

Your feed and episodes are available only at an unlisted link unique to you. Anyone who has that link can listen, so please keep it private. Contact us if you need it replaced.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active. If you text STOP, we keep a record of your opt-out so we don't message you again. You can ask us to delete your account and episodes at any time by emailing us, and we'll do so within 30 days unless we need to keep something for legal reasons.

Your choices and rights

Text STOP to stop all messages, or HELP for help.
Email us to access, correct, or delete your information. Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have additional rights, which we'll honor.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards, such as encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, though.

Children

The Service isn't intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date above.
